I was wondering do any of you guys use EV? We're currently running EV8 - and having a terribad time trying to back it up, the vault size is only 148Gb, but is taking 10hrs to back it up, now - I know that these files are small, but it's currently running at 130-250mb\min which is a little bit insane. I read somewhere about a setting within EV whereby it stuffs all the files into a .cab file, but I can't seem to see this option anywhere, nor find it in the administrators guide for EV (well, it briefly talks about it, but doesn't go into detail regarding it.)

The backup software we're using is BE12.5, and it's backing up to a LTO4 drive in a FC Quantum Scalar 24.

Anyone else had issues backing up EV?

Our schedule? Pretty screwed up right now. Starts at 6am, finishes late in the day.

Everything as far as I can tell is all right with the backup, it should work fine, it does the pre-script before hand (putting it into backup mode) backs all the drives. I've tried doing this using B2D and straight to tape, when it finishes, it runs the post-script.

Let me know if you need any more info.

You can set Collections on the partitions in the Vault. Right click on the partition, select properties and then the collections tab. You can set it there. Choose a collection size, i.e. 10Mb (This will make a cabinet file of 10mb, inside this resides the actual archive files).

This can speed up backups, but remember it will also slow down reteival of archived files as it will need to unpack the collection file first.
