Behind you... Naked!
Just a thought.

My Media PC is running Win 8.1 64 Bit with MediaCenter.

If I was to buy the Enterprise version of 7 or 8.1 ( Dont mind which ) can I then install MediaCenter into it?

I am aware, that the enterprise versions of Windows do not do the update to Windows 10 do they?

Again... Just a thought.

Hmm... Im looking for an emoticon that shows devastation!

Never mind. It was a thought, that is clearly just a passing one now.

I was rather hoping, purely in that maybe it is available as a stand alone package...
I will admit that I had fears because I have had to buy a 8.1 With MCE licence rather than simply add it to an 8.1 licence too, so why I thought I could do the same to an enterprise version I dont know? LOL

Thank you.

I specifically said Windows 7. I know how it is distributed with Windows 8 and not with 10.

What's the actual question? You seem to have Windows with Media Center at the moment so why not just keep that running?

If you're building a new machine then put your efforts into testing MCE replacements, the writing has been on the wall with regards to that piece of software for years now.

Microsoft has changed how Media Centre is disterbuted since then unfortunately.

The only way to get WMC on Windows 8, is on the Pro edition only, as an addon.

However, I was gutted that they removed WMC on Windows 10. :(

You can install media centre on Windows 10. I'm using it and it works fine.

Oh?

You can install it on 10?

Ok, how do I go about that then? Can I just D/L a .exe / .msi and go with that?

I have no problems with 10 on the Media PC, but since we use WMC and I have found nothing that even comes close to its ease and seamlessness, plus the fact that is works EXACTLY as I like it to, I was a bit iffy with going to 10.

I have even thrown Windows XP MCE into my smaller one because that works just perfectly.

Ok, I will try to D/L a frsh installer for MediaCentre, and put W10 onto the MediaCenter for a bit, to give it a test.

I think I will ghost the disk first however.

( thats sounds a bit more like "THE MOB" than I meant it... I meant Norton Ghost rather than concrete shoes. LOL )

The only thing that doesn't work for me is pressing the green media centre button on the remote doesn't open media centre.
