You guys got one? Who's the manufacturer? What do you use it for, voice! Data? Location? Just about to pick a supplier, only Cisco people seemed interested, had a little bite from Motorola and Juniper, but nothing concrete.

Yep, I deployed 32 sites, using a centrally managed Cisco solution. We looked into Motorola about two and a bit years ago when we were deploying and everything was 'future' releases where as Cisco did what we wanted there and then.
At the moment, it's just data access and defence, but we might end up using it for voice at a later date, I've got a Cisco 7921 that works 'ok' at the moment, but our head office is massively oversubscribed, so I'm waiting on the go to add bigger AP's.

I'm just running an upgrade project on it at the moment, upgrading the software in the controllers and changing the control system from WCS to NCS along with bolting in ISE for BYOD (it's a TLA fest!) basically we're adding Cisco Identity Services Engine to allow in-boarding of personal devices, plus being able to see what sort of devices are connecting, something we can't see at the moment.

We use Cisco wireless for all our customers and it's excellent, however we are also looking to expand to HP. A friend of mine uses Juniper however he was less than impressed with their hardware support - not sure if that's down to the support contract though

meraki (now owned by cisco). A lot of features for your money, compared to what others charge. Works well no issues.

very simple to setup (get a site setup) and for each device put in the serial number in the web page and it pulls down the settings for your site.

Using it at head office (200+ users) for data and voice (lync) no issues.

Cisco 4404 here with 10 AIR-LAP1242AG access points.

Probably a bit overkill for one small site with <100 users, but as it's already here, we make use of it!

We use a Cisco 5508 connecting up to 40+ APs across Europe. Provides Guest/DMZ access as well as corporate access with trusted devices in AD. Works well but will most likely take a look at refreshing it this year to replace with something like Aruba maybe.

Is it worth it, especially for just 40 access points? The 5508 can't be more than 3 years old and is a great platform.

It is a good platform but we're a little restricted by the policies we can implement. It is not so much the 5508 that's the problem but the policy server.

Currently use a Meru System. However, from the demos I have been given and from what I've seen/read Meraki looks like a good bet for features and for price.

Used Cisco (awful web interface on them) and Meru. I've only used these two so have to go with Meru. Support seem pretty decent when ever I have had to speak with them.

As with all Cisco, if you are using the web interface/GUI, you are doing it wrong.

This is post installation when its in support so for basic administration the GUI is usually sufficient. Regardless, its still lacking in comparison.

We have an enterprise WLAN supporting around 3000 users at peak times, 252 AP's going upto 412 this summer. We use Aruba, can'r rate it high enough, excellent management capabilities, very good spectrum management (vital in London). Its only weak point is guest access if you get 100's of visitors, as the captive portal can be management intensive if you have high visitor throughput, otherwise I love it - rock solid..

You configure your WLC through CLI? What about CUCM? ;)

Heh I was just about to say similar :) WLC is possible but the CLI is dire. Single AP's CLI but, GUI is the way forward for controllers. WCS sucks though. Hopefully Prime will be better when I do the upgrade, waiting on the server guys to give me some VM's right now.

100% agree on WCS. We've got a Prime appliance in but just need to get it upgraded. The server is a bit of a beast for an appliance though.

Going down the Cisco route here. Just about to place the order. 8510 WLC, 3602AP, Prime, ISE, MSE. Should be an interesting year or so!
