Got a program in my add/remove list , that is no longer installed and hasn't been for quite some time. How ever the listing remains on the add/remove panel. It just shows up with it's name , no size and says rarely used. If i click remove , it says preparing to uninstall , tells me it can't do it , then i have to cancel. Then the entry for it disappears :) , how ever next time add/remove is opened , it's back.

I've looked about and most places say if an entry remains for whatever reason you can go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Currentversion\uninstall. Then just remove the relavent entry. How ever this one seems to have no entry to remove

I've searched and looked manually and there is not one to be found :(. Also the entry has no icon , just the generic grey computer. How do I get rid of it?

Thanks :).

look again it will definitely be there. maybe the folder name in the left hand pane of regedit is a random string of numbers/letters. check the description in the right hand pane as you check each one. :)

Take a note of what the app is called in add/remove programs, then do a search for it in the above mentioned sub-key.

It will show up in a value called "DisplayName".

Definitely not in the registry. I've searched for it's displayed name on Add/remove and I've also looked through the registry manually looking at the display name on the right and it's just not there. Also downloaded Ccleaner and tryed that , entry shows up , but as soon as you click remove entry , it comes up "cannot delete msi installer".

It just refuses to leave :(.
