Am I corect in saying the btwin 500 is the best you can get for the lower price range, comes in at £330 @ 10.4 kg without pedals. Can you recommend better for the price, maybe go second hand?

Not sure it's the 'best' but it's certainly one of them.

Not sure what's better, but I would certainly go branded from a 'high street' kinda store for the backup and cyclescheme side of things (assuming). Although I'd always push people towards LBS rather than big brands like Decathlon/Halfords/Evans' for the service side of things, but not many of them can even compete at that low level. So if you want cheap, buy cheap, but don't expect too much quality when it comes to components, build or servicing.

Can certainly get more/better second hand but a huge minefield, so equally far more likely to get ripped off/scammed.

So what would you guys do with this budget. With second hand there's no warranty, so looking like first hand. So you reckon that both above bikes are the best bet, is there anything under 10kg?

It does look ok but then I am no expert. The Rivelin 2.0 actually looks very nice but only seems to come in a 54cm frame.

I am now looking at the Triban 520 instead of the 500.

The rivelin is also 10.9kg whereas the triban 520 is 9.6kg I think.

If I go for the Rivelin, at 6'' in height I assume I would be a 58cm frame, or how does it work, yes I am clueless at the moment. Would I go in and try the 56cm and 58cm bikes?
