EOS 1000d strange power issues

Folks,

Strange issues with my 1000D, which I'm hoping is battery but could do with an expert opinion.

Basically turn the camera on, and start taking pictures and it will go completely dead after a couple of shots. Turn the camera off and back on again and no joy, leave it off for a few minutes and everything will fire back up.

Camera says battery is fully charged...

However, this is very intermittent this morning about every other shot, this afternoon completely flawless.

Any help appreciated.

Sounds exactly how one of my fake batteries behaved. Still got it on a shelf somewhere so could give it a test again to see if it still does that.
