just been helping pull the dead engine out of my friends Rover 220 Coupe Turbo after it died to death a couple of weeks back. I'll copy and paste he's post from rovertech here.
and then i've taken some more photos tonight.
It is an engine purchased for about £100 around a year ago that was only needing to run for a while whilst a new more powerful engine was built up. he had turned the boost up, and we think damaged the ringlands. (it sounded very rattly) but had been fine for 2 months or so with the boost backed off again.
I thought it was a pretty impressive failure!

Until tonight when I took the head off and found, serve lack of no 3 cylinder failure! I'll get more clearer pictures up later

The dent in the edge looks like the rod has hit it, how is that even possible!
The turbo spins again (but is still being scrapped), and the cat had a bit of water and a few bits of metal in it that dropped out when shaken!
