I've personally owned and driven a couple of Rovers and I can only say good things about them. In fact, for a few years we owned a Rover 216 SLi. The one with the solid as a rock Honda 1600cc 16 valve engine I recall. (Rover experts please correct me if I'm wrong). That car was a lot like the original MK1/MK2 Golf GTIs. Very chuckable and a bullet proof revvy engine. I'm not sure if ours had a "problem" as such, but it sounded like we drove a sports car lol. No the exhaust was not blown. Just the induction noise on WOT was for some reason really sporty/noisy. It was a hoot to rag about in, all for a couple of hundred quid. Only reason I sold it was coz it had 160k on it and needed a new clutch due to the abuse I gave her.
