Yes I know it's the Musical equivalent of having a nice tommy-tank and should not be performed in public but I've had a couple of epic listening sessions this morning and I'm curious as to what you guys may think are the best Solo's of all time my list is as Follows:

1. Wishbone Ash ~ Throw Down the Sword 3:40 - > end(Ok more of a duet but still in the same epic vein)

2. Lynyrd Skynyrd ~ Freebird goes without saying.

3. The Eagle's ~ Hotel California ~ it has a sort of sinister vibe to it.

There are more but these three just hit me!

Cream - Crossroads (so Clapton)

Loads of others, bit of a fan of watching Slash let loose, though I know his "sloppy" style isn't too everyone's tastes.

Love a bit of old slowhand though, effortless musician.

In fairness, it's contrived but Led Zep - Stairway To Heaven is still one of my favourite solos ever too, the guitar mastery at play is immense, it's just so over-played everyone passes it by I think.

Crossroads – Cream

Voodoo Chile - Jimi Hendrix

Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin

All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendix

As epic as they come:

Blimey, so many contenders. I guess epic and best don't necessarily mean the best thing!

Will have to come back to you lot after a ponder.

Telegraph Road by Knopfler is one big solo imo :D

And the opening to Money for Nothing, that is the funkiest of the funk :p
