Epic Vs Steam younger generation

I tried using the Epic launcher once 3-4 years ago and it wasn’t a great user experience.

Steam, on the other hand, has been Ronseal for me.*

Acccccchtuallllly it was 'Does exactly what it says on the tin', how dare you misquote an institution such as Ronseal.

It took Valve years to get their interface to where it is, it was primitive in the early stages. Perhaps they don't care now or its not a priority, but give them time. Competition is good for the consumer, monopolies are good for the companies.
Epic have had plenty of time now and it's still bare bones. It's very clear they just don't get it.

Interesting point about the younger generations trending towards a new default. One thing that hasn't been mentioned here is also the comparison to the console experience. If all their friends are gaming on consoles and are used to the restricted OS and features then EGS kinda fits in.

Personally I find it woeful but there have been a handful of freebies that I've felt like trying that have got me checking it. Competition is great and all but I don't find it that competitive? Games tend to be full price unless you get a voucher here and there. I did buy Satisfactory while it was an exclusive which left a sour taste but realistically it didn't impact my enjoyment of the game itself.

I have steam but only use it if I have to. Installed it with HL2 when it came out so from the start really. There's something messed up with my account which means I'm charged twice on my CC/DC if I ever buy anything on there. I've not purchased anything directly for about 10 years now but will redeem keys etc or but steam cards if something is only available on there.

It might be that they've fixed whatever the issue was but after it charged me twice, three times in a row I've never tried again. They flatly refused at the time to acknowledge the problem and blocked my account at the time because I charged one back on the CC. Each farce took several weeks to resolve when they finally admitted they'd messed up.

That's a long winded way of saying, I'll use it as a last resort but will use anything else first, if i can.
