Has anyone done ePOS maintenance here? I've been asked to look at updating a Casio till which has an Ethernet connection and that I've got on a now firewalled network. The quotes I'm getting are through the roof just for doing stupid stuff like price updates.

I'm not charging for this, just helping out a small business so if anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Can I download an app or use serial port with an app to do this stuff? Paying £100 an hour is not viable for a business with a tiny profit each month.

Remote access had been mentioned but I can see this being a ripoff to earn more money as there's no way they can connect remotely without a local box or port forwarding that would not scale to multiple tills.

Would need some more info, whats the till? What price info? Not much to go on Epos ranges from tiny corner shop to 20 lane plus supermarkets!

I know there will be a charge for suggesting setting up a VPN or whatever but can source and configure a VPN solution myself if needed as I'm a network dude. Don't see why this can't be done locally.

Happy to PayPal someone for their suggestions but the supplier is crazy money.

This is a local boozer that's struggling to keep its head above water and is pretty much a local community hub.

Happily help but still not overly clear on what you are trying to do? From a quick google its using Android (?) Why do you need a VPN? For remote access if so just use Teamviewer or something like that.

What Epos software is it running and do you know what company supplied it?

I did a network scan and saw it was android. :) No idea of software sorry.

They want to add new items, add the capability to account for fruit machine ticket wins as cash and to condense down the z total as it's about 6 feet long.

The firm offering support want to charge crazy money and will want a VPN for remote access to do this stuff.

Trust me if you want. Not expecting a freebie at all.

All those things should be easily configurable on the Backoffice assuming it has one some are all in one units like the Paypoint one mentioned previously.

Normally Epos systems come with support of some sort. Guess in this case they don't, I would find out the name of the Epos system and google it for a user guide. Generally speaking they are fairly straight forward.

For example this is Oracles inherited Fuel Epos user guide https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E62118_01/cfbo/pdf/362/confuel-bo-362-hpug.pdf

Edit is this what it looks like ? http://support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/006/V-R100_usersmanual_EN.pdf

Basically the retailer sold it as a unit with no support package. The business was a bit naive and have relied on YouTube videos up until now.

Annoying as I thought these things came with an hour or two consultancy but not in this case.

Cheers :)

If you find out what the name of it is I might be able to help more. The Epos world is a small one:)
OK after a bit of digging it seems they've been a bit economical with the truth so I'm not going to badmouth anyone or any company.

It looks like they had 30 days to engage some included consultancy but dragged their heels installing it and are now stuck with an initial setup. I feel a bit bad for the company that sold it as I don't think it's an unreasonable deal. :)

I'll have a look at the manual otherwise I think they'll have to suck it up for not getting their act together. :)

Shock horror customer not telling the full story :p If you need any technical help give me a shout - I'd recommended them taking some sort of support though as it is their source of taking money after all.

Hi there all

I am okay with epos systems however I would like to know if there is one that can be installed on my pc and then controlled by any mobile device with the app that is linked to this program on my computer over the. Net

I am not to bothered about costing but I need it to be this way only as I don't want a till on show in my business.

Thanks in advance for any help or any links you share
