Epox 9NPA Ultra - Serial Port Problem

Just replaced my duff MSI Neo4 for this one. Very happy until I tried to plug my GPS into the serial port. Just won't connect.

Device Manager says the com ports are enabled. I've played with all the settings with no luck.

Now the 9NPA comes with an onboard 9 pin serial port, but the connections don't look that they will fit, so how do I connect?

Can't get away from the feeling I'm missing something really, really obvious.

Any help?

Sorry to raise this again, but...

I've done more research and discovered that there is a cable that links the on board COM2 connection (known as IDC10) to a Serial Port bracket (known as DB9M). To confuse things more, I understand there are 2 configurations (cross wired and straight through), and the one that I need is crosswired (known as DTK). Phew.

Here is such an example:

Or indeed this one:

Can I find such a cable/bracket in the UK? Can I ****

Begs the question: why didn't EPox supply such a bracket? - it's cheap, and they did it for the internal Firewire and USB ports...

Anyone help?
