Epping Forest - parking?

I happen to be going to Buckhurst hill soon, which Google says is a 6 min drive to a random road through Epping Forest

But where is the nearest parking in Epping Forest to the Buckhurst hill side? Somewhere I can access the forest to take my dog for a walk.

There are some street parking spots near Smarts Lane / Nursery road in Loughton that you can walk directly into the forest from. Otherwise there are a number of public car parks off the roads that go directly through the forest

Walking your dog? Isn’t epping forest where all the bodies get dumped?

Look along A104/Epping New Road on Google Maps and there’s a bunch of public car parks or you can try the High Beech Visitors Centre.

Whatever you do just avoid Woodridden Hill there are roadworks there and sometimes it takes an absolute age waiting.

If you want a quieter area less busy road, go up Epping New RD at the round about with the Miller and Carter pub head towards Theydon Bois (B172) and down that rd you will find two small carparks. Oh and watch out for deer!

Thanks, Connaught Water car park worked out best in the end, just 5 mins from where I was going anyway.

There is plenty of parking but it is now paid parking. They changed it last year

Epping Forest is really nice area, some great walks and ponds to sit by. Your dog will love it!
