Epson printer help

Wrong. They just need a cartridge with a chip in them. As i said, they are widely available. I have one of the newer batch of DX4000 and mine does take third party cartridges. You need to know the manufacturing date of the printer (it's on a sticker on it) to know which set of cartridges to buy.

Ahh ok. It was the guy at my local shop who said that the new ones wouldn't take them. Won't be shopping there again.

Do you have to mess with them replacing the chip from an original to the generic each time?

He was probably trying to get you to buy a new printer from him.

No it's all built into the cartridge. It's just the same as fitting a new Epson cartridge. In fact, apart from the label it looks like an Epson cartridge.

Yeah, I think he may have been.

Do you have an email add I can contact you on? (Don't want to break forum rules.) :D
