Got one of these printers in for repair, normally i dont take printers but this is a friend of a friend kind of thing.

Problem is, it just wont print anything, you might get the odd line or something but thats it.
Ive tried all the usual head cleaning, new cartridges etc etc but it hasnt made any difference at all.

It has apparently been in constant use until this happened and it just happened out of the blue.

Any ideas? Im guessing the heads blocked or something similar, any epson experts on here?

Cheers

I'm no expert - but have they been using non-gen cartridges? I know that if you take a printer to an Epson X-Press centre they can refuse to touch them. I had it happen to a mate of mine :(

If they're just going to reset the unit, you could have saved some money and tried out this utility: http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

I've tried it on two units before that have had odd behavioural problems and it’s sorted both of them out ;)

Good luck!

SW.

Ps. if it turns out you need to replace the printer, I don’t recommend getting the entry level Epson, the D78. It’s awful! My Dads using one atm. If you do get it, get some aviation earmuffs – you’ll need them…

I personally recommend the DX600 all in one. It can be yours for £60 delivered from certain online retailers :)

LOL

I have a C42 and a couple of C44 Printers here that I have used the SSC Utilty on more than once... I use kind of like 50p inks and if I can put up with the speed ( Lack of ) they print just fine for me, but then the main reason I still keep hold of these little luvvies, is that I have kids who keep gettign me to print out loads of Tweenies, Finding Nemo etc stuff for them...

My other main printer is a godo old R200 thats also had a fair run around the block, but its nippy and gives great quality.

Id happily buy another R200 given that I have had to reset it twice now, and thats 80,000 pages per reset, so its done near to 200,000 sheets of printouts since I got it ( and even then I got it second hand because .... Yup, it needed a reset !!! )

Anyway, the D78 is actually an ok printer... Agreed on the noise levels though, but then having grown up with GolfBall, Line Printers and 9Pin DMP's kind of makes the noisyest inkJet sound like a catterpillars fart.
