I got the new headphones ( DT990 pro 250 ohm ) first impression is that they sound overly 'smooth', not sure why, second thing is the treble is extremely prounounced, have not heard anything like it before, I think
it would benefit from heavy equalization, so I took out my graphics card and put in my asus sound card as I dont know how to do EQ through the Dacmagic xs, however I forgot that my EQ thing does not work on the soundcard, it used to work but at some point it broke, in the window where it is supposed to display the frequency bars it doesn't show anything and when you change the preset there is no noticable difference

I looked on the support page and I seem to already have the latest driver,
do I need to uninstall all the drivers for all my other audio devices or something ? I uninstalled the realtek one but when I restarted the computer windows put it back on

I would start by removing all audio device drivers and starting from scratch, it does sound like some kind of conflict.

I forgot my laptop has EQ on it ( some sort of realtek with 'SRS' ),
got it to sound a lot more like I would expect now

the essence card isnt meant to go in my current computer anyway since it is mITX form factor, so I will try and make it work properly when its in the other computer

Not true, I'm currently sat here playing with the equaliser and various sound effects with the sampling rate set at 192kHz.

Same here. It'll most likely be a conflict or something isn't quite right. Re-install and you should be fine. :)
