Well what do you expect to be honest? Nobody makes a game free to play out of the goodness of their hearts. They want to make as much money as possible, and this is just a sneakier way of getting it out of you.

Drug dealers have been doing this for years - get people well and truly hooked before they start having to pay for the next hit. I'm surprised it's taken game devs so long to catch on :p

Of course game company have to make money. The F2P thing is a bit of a myth and marketing. It just when the "microtransations" are anything but "micro" and they nerf the game to force people to buy cash shop items it gets me.

In a lot of cases the F2P bit little more then a trail and you are going to have to sub to play the game seriously. EQ2 the same but you get less for your money on the F2P servers then you do on the existing servers. :confused: That just nuts!!
 
Played this from release, was a good game at the time. Played the first expansion and bought the 2nd but never played it.....

How has this game improved? It is an old game now, how does it stack up to say LoTR?
 
I am tempted but not sure if the free version would be much fun for me, i love the auction house but wouldnt be able to use it on the free version.
Still tempted though because the community is so great.
