i think many would suggest that AMD have no equal yet...?

Indeed, no equivalent. Just remember, 4770k is an unlocked, K-cpu that already boosts to 3.9ghz on 2 cores at stock. It is usually clocked much higher, to 4.2-4.6ghz as otherwise you're better off buying the 4771 which you can't clock. That doesn't have an equal either.
