I have a theoretical question that I'm hoping someone can help me out with.
I have 2 SANs, one designated as the primary which replicates to a secondary and run a virtualised instance of Exchange on an iSCSI attached ESXi host. The OS (VM) and the DB are stored on separate volumes. The VM is replicated every 1 hour and the Exchange DB is replicated every 15 minutes.
If I were in a situation where I had to failover to the secondary SAN, would I have any issues starting Exchange - as the VM could potentially be 1 hour old whereas the DB is only 15 minutes old? Would it matter that the OS and the DB are 'out of sync'?
