Hi I am completing an assignment for one of my modules.

I need to specify a equipment link for the network, basically what would be used in a real life scenario.

Here is a diagram of the MDF I will be using:

What I need is a list of what routers, switch, servers I should use.

I would prefer it to be Cisco equipment, cost is not a problem.

I also need to spec switches for the following floors. Everything must support 1000BaseT.

Floor 1: 33 PC’s. This floor will use email, voice, video basically a variety of applications

Floor 2: 60 PC’s. Again a variety of applications

Floor 3: 90 PC’s. A variety of applications including FTP

Hi

Heres my first thoughts

Load Balancer - Cisco CSS 11500 series - check out the specs based on your requirements but I imagine a 11501 is all you need

Floor 1 - cisco 3560E-48PD 48 Port 3560 Switch - includes POE for IP voice

Floor 2 - cisco 3750E-48PD x 2 - again contains POE for voice and are stackable for port density

Floor 3 - cisco 4000 series switch - check out the different models and supervisor engines for your needs - you also need to look at the types of blades

erm, if this is a assignment for a course or something, shouldnt you be doing this yourself? i mean, i dont mind helping people if they are stuck, but it seems to me more like you just want others to do the work for you.

Thanks jim. what sort of router would I be looking into? I assume a cisco 3660 wouldnt be up to the task?

Dist well I'm asking for advice, I've had a look around but there's so much stuff and I'm not sure what would be suitable.

hi

router wise - I'd be looking at the 2800 and 3800 ISR routers - and all the modules you can get for them

I appreciate the comments about doing it all yourself but I think you are right in that there is so much stuff these days to look through.

Anyway - I've given you the real world models - there still plenty of reading to figure out what you really need!
