I have currently and indeed have been running for quite some time an i7 920 oced to 3.6, with 12GB ram at 1600. I don't recall if this was dual channel or triple channel or whatever, its linked to an ssd, and an AMD 7850 gfx card, all on an asus p6t deluxe v2 mobo.

My question is, if I wanted to spec something similar, in modern architecture, in the next three, possibly four months, what equivalent system would one be looking at, and what would the cost benefit points be in such a system.

Obviously processors have got fatser but most now have builtin gpus etc, so spec me a system with similar capabilities for at little cost as possible, thanks.

Is this for yourself, to replace that build? If so why do you want something to MATCH it? surely you'd want something better, performance wise..

'Matching it' depends on your uses, is it a gaming rig? Video/photo editing? or an all rounder?

EDIT: your cheapest way of matching/supassing it a little is this:

It is for someone else.
I would like to build something comparable, as I have no issues with the speed of my rig.
Mainly used for normal day to day browsing, small amounts of gaming, with specific use in the likes of photoshop and autocad.

A little more pricey here but the intel side of things. I chose the 4670K to keep price lower, but the 4770K is better if you have the budget. :D Note the 16GB memory for photo shop etc.

Either spec system would be ideal with both exceeding the power of your current setup.
