Lately I've been getting soreness in my fingers and wrist after a long session at the computer mousing away, particularly when doing 3D modeling where I do a ton of clicking and scroll-wheeling. Plenty of it can be blamed on poor posture but I'm looking to replace my mouse as well.

I've currently got an el-cheapo MS optical. I've had a look at trackballs and it looks like Logitech is the big name there. I've used the TrackMan Marble from them and really didn't like it. It always felt as if the ball was too easily moved causing shakes and poor accuracy. Back in the days of yore I recall seeing lots of really big trackballs where the ball was about the size of a baseball. How are these to use? Does anybody make 'em anymore?

I like the idea of a vertical mouse but don't have any experience with them. Do you?

What can you folks recommend? I certainly don't want to develop any sort of RSI and I don't see myself going mouseless anytime soon. :p

EDIT: Oh yeah, wireless would be nice but isn't essential. Scrolling is essential, however it is performed. I'm right-handed.

The MX1000, MX1100 and MX Revolution are a very nice fit in the hand, at least to me. The Reolution has two scroll wheels and buttons all over so that may help with shortcuts in your modelling too. I'm using an MX Revolution after using an MX1000, and I love it. Oh, and all are wireless.

Never tried a trackball, the idea never really appealed to me, so I can't help there.

i use the Logitech Cordless TrackMan Optical, don't use the scroll wheel a massive lot but its comfortable for me when i do use it.
