Hi everyone - hoping someone can lend me there knowledge!

First off my pc specs are as such :

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P with a c2d 6600
2 Gb of gskill HZ ram
2 x Samsung spinpoint 500g HD's
8800 GTS 640
520w Corsair psu

I moved house 2 weeks ago and have pretty much left it alone all that time apart from watching a few movies on it (no tv or internet! what do i do?!) anyway. My line got activated with Be on friday and as such can enjoy speedy internet again. However upon booting up I realised it was going in slow motion essentially - the windows screen took along time to load up past and when I clicked the login it sat there for 2-3 minutes and then sloooowly loaded each icon up. After that I was met with a generic blue screen with Stop: oxoooooof4 and several others with 03/ox88e etc etc basically without the usual information provided. Today however I was given a Kernel_stack_inpage_error blue screen.

I've since run the samsung chkdisk utility which didnt find any problems, neither did windows chkdsk - also memtest for 8 hours without incident.

I'm now wondering if i should reformat but to be honest it seems rather strange that i'd suddenly be getting those blue screens.

Can anyone suggest any ideas? My feeling is it seems like a duff HD but isnt the utility designed to pick that up?

Thanks in advance!

I've just reformatted - fairly painless.. the speeds back to normal etc however - 2 hours later i get a random blue screen upon loading paint - "kernal_data_inpage_error" and mentions atapi.sys.. this at least is easier to trace - this mentions an error loading data into the memory often indicating a duff disc. Anyone had a similar experience?

Thinking about installing the OS onto the other HD and pulling the other one out and seeing if it carries on - hmm.

Not really sure on this but if it was me i'd probably re-seat memory and the graphics card while i was in there. Clear the cmos and give that a go.

Still can't fix this issue.. i've reformatted several times on the different drives and they both seem to be playing up so i'm not sure if its a hardware error.

Checking the event viewer it's got repeated DISK errors with The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D. on event ID 11. Checking the microsoft site it gives a vague mention to a faulty cable but surely that can't be the case? it was never giving me problems before and i've reconnected to several different sata ports.

This is really doing my head in :(

This one popped up last boot too!

A parity error was detected on \Device\Ide\IdePort0. - microsoft again mentions a duff cable.

I'll replace it and see - i have one lying around

Would this really throw 2 HD's out and cause blue screens though? seems suspicious

Just thought - on this motherboard there are 2 other sata connections using gigabytes own controller. If i were to use them over the intel sata controller would it be slower? Going to try and see if i still get the disk errors in event viewer.
