hi

i recently put a used psp up on ebay with an accurate listing etc. the works. I let the listing run it's course with no probs until, when it finished, i still had not been paid 20 mins later (bearing in mind the winning bidder was bidding seconds before the bid etc.). I then get an email saying "they" have bought this psp for their husband as a suprise and don't have much experience with ebay. They then also asked in this message if i could say whether or not "the item is a good one." :?

I replied simply stating the listing is entirely accurate to prevent confusion/problems (psp isn't perfect condition), to which they replied "THAT DOESNT FILL ME WITH GOOD THOUGHTS." At this point i'm thinking oh ffs.

So basically they don't want the item they didn't look at the listing just bid on a cheaper than normal psp, before realising they won't want it. We agreed to let this go without any dispute/hassle if firstly mutually positive feedback was left, and they also agreed they would pay any final item/relisting fees, around £4 (item went for £56 + P&P).

I have sent a second chance offer to the 3rd highest bidder (2nd had no feedback .. yah)who bid around £52, and also messaged the 4th highest bidder with a bid of £45 to see if he would be interested. I have had responses from the 3rd and 4th highest bidders just asking me to confirm their bids and the item number.

Any advice as to where i should go from here? Should I be prepared to lose £10 on the item because someone bought it without reading? Should I push for the fees to be covered by the winner because of the problems? Should I offer to the 2nd highest bidder who has 0 feedback, but whose bid was only £1 or £2 behind the winner?

Cheers for any advice guys .. haven't had this happen to me before.

Offer it to the 2nd highest bidder, if he pays within a day or so then you cant go wrong. Or relist the item and hope it sells for more to recover the fees lost from this auction plus the current fee.

Just to update quickly i've sent a message to the 2nd highest bidder (guy with no feedback) so hopefully if hes still interested i'll sell to him. if not i'll just have to relist it :/

IIRC if you dispute this with eBay that the winner didn't pay up, they grant you a FVF (final value fee), and let you relist it for free.
