Just putting together a new build, and since I had two physical discs I decided to installl 7 on the second hard disk, so I could keep my XP installation for awhile on the first one (just in case)

However, just booted off the Windows 7 installation CD and apparently it won't let me install it to the partition I wanted because I had turned it into a Dynamic partition when I first partitioned that drive! :(

Is there any way to turn it into a logical partition without losing all the data on it (and on the other partition on the same physical disc?)

If you can't just convert it while keeping the data on it, can I at least reformat it while keeping the other partition on the same disk intact?

Screw this, been reading up and it seems the only ways to do it without deleting all your partitions are either installing paid-for software or mucking about in the MBR with a hex editor, and I'm not prepared to do either one. I'll just install over my beloved XP installation. Goodbye Ol' Faithful! :(
