Erratic mouse behaviour after restart/windows update

A few days ago I booted up and my mouse wouldn't work correctly, the left button would do the function of the right, and the right button wouldn't do anything.

I re-installed intellipoint 8, but to no avail

I now have to do a system restore to a day roughly two weeks ago to get my mouse working correctly, but if I switch it off then it reverts back to the strange behaviour.

Any ideas?

When you say you reinstalled Intellipoint did you grab the latest version from the MS website?

Yes I did.

I've noticed the mouse works fine when I left click into the password on W7 welcome screen, if I just type the PW in it goes all odd again
