ERROR 0x45a!

What is this error, it comes up when I start windows for the first time after install.

Unfortunately is a generic hex error and could be many things

Does it appear immediately after clean install BEFORE installing anything else?

yep.

no other drivers, installed, and on a clean hdd.

is there any more info you need to help work out wht it could be?

Could be quite a few things then, ie bad memory (which im inclined to belive), bad media (make sure the cd is clean etc) or a bad hard drive
Run memtest on there to rule out the memory.

I've ran the memtest, and it's fine.

how can I check the hdd?

the DVD is spotless.
