I’ve just bought a new 4tb SSDdrive (

Crucial MX500 4TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD) to replace one of my 500G SSD.

Formatted it in disk management ( done this lots of times over the years ) . Started to copy a few things over got the error deleting get error 0x800701b1?

So I thought I’d check in disk management again and it was unallocated and I couldn’t do anything on it .

Rebooted my system and it wouldn’t boot in windows . Powered off put old 500 back in and booted and worked fine ?

Any ideas please ?

Thank you

Thanks for your reply , yes it’s inaccessible now . I took it out with the same cables I’d used for ages on the older one and swapped it with the old ssd and that works fine .

That’s why I’m a little puzzled as I expected that to play up afterwards ?

Thanks

You're saying the drive is inaccessible now?

I'd replace/reconnect all of the cables, including the power (make sure they're SATA 3 compatible).

Try these steps too:

Well I've swapped cable's over and used a new port (Not the one the old 200gig was in ) Copied some files over and deleted them and it seems to work fine now?

Even ran a virtual machine off it that i use for work etc they crashed and wouldn't power up yesterday on that drive.

Going to leave the pc on a bit now and see if it works fine .

Thank you

I think you've done enough to show the new SSD is now faulty.
An external USB-to-SATA cable is a very useful tool for checking suspect SSDs. A small but worthwhile investment.
Might be working now ?

Never thought of one of those cables will look for one thank you .
