A very annoying and random problem!

I swapped over my PSU and now I can't install any programs within windows. I'll get an error about access being denied to %UserProfile%\AppData\Temp or a slightly different directory if i'm trying to install something else.

I've tried taking ownership of the folder and I can browse it, add new files to it and delete files from it but every set up program says access is denied.

I've made a new profile and I still get the same issue, I've tried changing the environment variables to a different folder, also tried the admin account on Win 7 with no luck. The only thing that works is enabling UAC notifications and then running the program as admin, but I don't want to do this as those annoying UAC prompts come up for everything. :p

Tried looking online too but there doesn't seem to be any solutions. So short of reinstalling Win7 has anybody else experienced this problem before?

Blame all the crappy software not written properly - not UAC.

It may help other posters if you explain the cause/solution! :)

I just ended up making a new profile and transferring my files over. It didn't work last night but this time I restarted my PC after making the new profile. All seems fine now.

I'm not blaming UAC for being annoying. It's not its fault it has annoying pop ups. :p
