So I tried to upgrade to a new Samsung 850 Evo 250gb from my old Seagate 1TB HDD and decided that since I only wanted to to put the OS on the SSD I would do a clean install. However when I try to connect to the internet with the wan miniport it gives me a "connection failed with error 651" message and also tells me "windows did not detect any networking hardware". I know that my internet is connected because I can still connect with the OS that's still on my HDD. Has anyone else encountered this and knows how to fix it?

Thanks

Ah yeah Atheros LAN driver is the issue that caused error. Unfortunately I found out Atheros ceased drivers development few years ago after Qualcomm acquired Atheros in 2011, the latest and final driver is 2.1.0.21 released in August 2013.

You could try download the Atheros LAN driver from Gigabyte site below.

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4326#driver

If driver version is same then you could try disable Atheros LAN in device manager and re-enabled it that could make the error 651 go away.
