I purchased this motherboard, from members market for £65.

I get Error 88 Code on DFI X48 T3RS motherboard. Today I installed all the components but unable to get it to POST and get the following error code. My psu, memory, gfx card all working fine and tested on a different pc. I even used 1 stick of ram/cleared the cmos to see if it boots up but without any luck.

Feel like I got mugged with a faulty motherboard, especially when money is tight.

Components;
Q9450 Intel
PSU XFX "XXX" modular
Corsair XMS CL9 4GB
GFX 8800 GFX
SSD OCZ 2 60GB

Any ideas why?

2 options, either the board is damaged, or the BIOS is damaged. The manual says that error code 88 isn't a proper error code, and means that either the BIOS is wrong, or the motherboard is damaged. It says try clearing the CMOS, and if that doesn't work, you need to get the board repaired. EDIT: just saw you tried clearing the CMOS, maybe try leaving the jumper in the clear position for longer, say 15 minutes, and if that doesn't work, the board is almost certainly faulty. It is possible it was damaged in transit, but it looks like you bought it a while ago, so i'm not really sure where you stand with returning it.

I brought it off members market and had to wait until purchasing DDR3 memory sticks.

I am using Q9450 Intel processor and cleared the cmos by removing the battery but still no joy. Error 88 still remains.

QUESTION - does the board support Q9450 under its default bios ? can someone check.

i think the website merely lists cpu support under the lastest bios, not that you need the latest to use the q9450. I'm using a Q9450 on an older motherboard, using the original bios, so i'd guess that the motherboard is just broken. Pretty sure it would give an error code relating to the cpu if that was the case anyway.
