Invalid sibling Link - When I go to power up, it begins the boot sequence - grey screen, spinning cog/gear - and then turns off again (black screen, no power).

Anyone else experience this? I've tried a few suggestions off the internet to no success.

I think it tells the mac what to do on startup.

E.G When using bootcamp it tells the mac which OS to boot into.

So whatever it is doing/trying to do on boot, reseting the PRAM will stop it from doing it

Had exactly this problem with my mates mac, had to reformat...

If you dont have a backup, i managed to boot from the leopard dvd, ran disc utility and made a dmg file from the drive, after installing leopard or snow leopard, mount the dmg then use the migration assistant to get all your data and settings back. Took about an hour for me.
