Hi there,

I sometimes get this error in Windows Vista. All the times i can remember getting it I have been playing a video or have had VLC Player open.

I am on Windows Vista 32bit (no SP1 - all officially updated) with VLC Player 0.8.6d.

Here is the error i get:

How do I fix this, or is it a known error?

Thanks.

I had this issue with nero7, upgraded to nero 8 and all gone away now, it might be one of those, If you can I would suggest uninstalling them all then instaling 1 by 1 to find the culprit (if it is one of them, I have only seen burning SW cause it myself)

actually thinking about it yourright it was only when opening folders containing videos (thumbnailed) that i got this error. perhaps nero 7 showtime (or some other gumph) decided to mess with it (it was the whole nero package I had installed) Do you have any other medai SW installed?

nah its not his codecs causing it, you dont even have to open the files sometimes just viewing the folder containing them is enough, I have the vista codec pack installed and it doesnt help, like I said my errors went away by upgrading nero, perhaps he has some other media app trying to take part control of his videos?

Edit - you know just checking and I dont hve thumbnails for videos anymore??? perhaps thats why im not getting the error. Time to play.....

I only have Real/Quicktime Alternative alternative codecs installed + VLC Player.

I don't really believe in codec packs - no need for them.

Is there anyway I can disable Video thumbnails if that will fix it?
