When installing any Os onto my Abit AN8 (s939) I get a crash out and restart in Xp and vista errors out and BSOD's, any ideas anyone ?
Its the latest Bios version aswell
and tried the disks on other machines and there fine.

Might be the motherboard as its new into the system only £16 so though it was a bargin :)

Spec:
AMD 64 4200+
2gb Kingston Ram 4x 512mb
Nvidia 8400GS
Maxtor 120gb HDD

Many Thanks

Probably is the RAM.

If you are still having problems you might want to try disabling hardware in the BIOS and installing like that. Then reenable when its rebooted.

Try that RAM first as it is most likely but in the past I've had to disable network controllers, sound cards, serial ports and anything like that. Then once the OS is installed reactivate them one at a time?

Have you got any additional hardware in like PCI sound cards or NIC?

id say you need to up your nb voltage a bit, you have 4 sticks of ram in there and socket 939 cpus are well know for issues with 4 sticks. Also make sure your RAM voltage is up to scratch, most MB's set it to 1.8, it should be around 2.0/2.1
