Hi, my friend is having some trouble installing her sp1 for vista.

She always gets the error 8000ffff and it fails to install. She found these instructions online which she has been following but has got stuck.

Find and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS
Right-click COMPONENTS.
Click Export.
In the File Name box, type COMPONENTS.
In the Save in box, click Desktop, and then click Save to save the file to your desktop.
In the details pane, right-click PendingXmlIdentifier, and then click Delete. If this value does not exist, go to the next step.
In the details pane, right-click NextQueueEntryIndex, and then click Delete. If this value does not exist, go to the next step.
In the details pane, right-click AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving, and then click Delete. If this value does not exist, go to the next step.
Restart the computer.

She can't find the "details pane" part, and the instructions just simply skip straight to that as you can see. Can anyone clear up where the details pain would be and how to access it please?

Thanks :)

The details pane is the window on the right side of the registry screen. The left window is the structure and the right window is the details pane :)

Its ok... she just spent $700 on a new laptop instead.

She was totally looking for a reason to buy a new laptop lol >.>
