Wasn't really sure where to put this..

I had to reinstall Vista this week for some reason or another. Ever since doing so, when the computer boots up I get the above error message. The only way I can get Windows to boot is by pressing F8 on my BIOS Post screen, and selecting the Raptor SATA drive (only internal HDD in the computer), the computer then boots fine.

The boot order is set to DVD, then Primary HDD, which is this WD Raptor. Only leaving it to auto boot doesn't work. Any ideas?

I'm reinstalling linux tonight so kinda hoping Grub will sort this problem out, but just wondering what it could be.

Try booting from the Vista DVD and follow instructions to fix boot errors (something like that)
I've done this in the past and its worked (not always the first time!)

make sure you dont have a usb stick in there, this can sometimes cause it. If not try clearing the bios as somethings obviously upsetting it if it used to work fine.

Done that a few times. It just claims that its passed all the tests and will boot fine.

Which it doesn't.

yep USB stick plugged in or memory card in card reader or external HD or even a phone via USB cable can all cause this message

Bumping this because I'm still getting it :(.

No external devices plugged in; Vista hard drive set to boot first; the windows boot repair utility didn't work.
