Error Loading OS

Hi,

I've just bought a new Seagate SATA hard drive and plugged it all in. I unplugged my IDE drive and formatted the new SATA drive and installed windows on it. But when I restarted and tried to boot to desktop it would just come up with:

'Press and key to boot from disk.... Error loading operating system'

I've re-formatted and re-installed windows a few times and checked every wire in my computer but to no avail.

Any ideas? Do I need to change something in my BIOS to accomodate SATA drives to boot first? Or some drivers for it?

Did you change the bios to boot from sata hard drive?

I did the boot priority to boot CD rom then HDD if that's what you mean?

Or do I actually have to select it to boot from SATA?

You haven't got a USB memory stick plugged in by any chance or something similar, take it out if you do and try

Change the boot priority to hard drive first.

Tried it but it still says error loading operating system :confused:

It recognises the hard drive in the bios as the first sata master and there is only another thing recognised which is the cd rom in second ide master.

In the bios go to Boot > Hard Disk Drives >

How many do you have their? Make sure the S-ata device is at the top.

Did you load the drivers from F6? Is the bios up to date? The latest is K8N4-E DELUXE Release BIOS 1010 (non beta)

I had to change the setting of the hard drive from Auto to Large on something, my uncle managed to work it out - no idea what it did
