Hey guys,
I recently built my new system (E4300, DS3, Geil 1GB Ultra) and tried to overclock by a small amount using the easytune software that came with my motherboard. i overclocked from 1808mhz to 1989mhz. effectively trying to increase by 200mhz. i raised the fsb to i think 220. it was fine then a blue screen kept coming up saying windows has been shut down to prevent serious damage. it didnt like the overclock one bit. its back to normal now on standard speed. why did this happen? is there any settings i should have changed e.g. vcore? standard vcore is something between 1.152 and 1.280 according to cpu-z. in bios though its listed as 1.31 standard?

true, but i was wondering why a small overclock would cause such system instability?

i really cant afford to have the computer out of action for long for the sake of a small overclock such as that

thanks for all your help. will do some serious reading up before i attempt any more overclocking.

just one thing? how do you guys normally overclock? i mean through bios directly or is there a program that does it all for you. that easytune i'm not too keen on as i dont know what its doing to the vcore.

and yes its a retail e4300
