error: operating system

hey just built my new pc and i booted it from CD and installed windows it seemed to be going well but after it had installed it on the DOS-like screen and then it does the first rebbot to get into windows it says
error - cannot find operating system
error loading operating system
or something like that cant remember what exactly but i tryed another hard drive and got the same error and i tryed it a few times also. anyone got this before?

have you setup the BIOS to boot up from the hard drive u installed OS?

ie, IDE0, IDE1, sata1, sata2 etc

ye i had it boot up from hard drive (didnt see option for ide1 etc)

ok sorted it went into bios and set defaults and it loaded up !
