I am unable to rip any cd's to my computer using windows media player. Every time I try to do it, it will error and says something like "Windows Media Player can't rip the CD because the disc is dirty or damaged" but the disk itself isn't dirty or damaged at all and reads in other cd/dvd drives I have tried it in.
I also tried it in my PS3 and it reads/rips no problems. I have tried the DVD drive in my mates PC (which is vista x64) and it works fine... so this is no doubt a software/firmware/codec issue. I am up-to-date firmware wise, using the latest Windows Media Player (I forget which it is ) and using the CCCP codec pack. I have vista x64... but don't think this is causing any issues as my mates PC has x64 too and I didn't get the problems. I did have x64 on a previous install and it worked fine though. On this relatively new install I have pretty much the same software/codecs installed as I did at the time it worked.
I'm a little stumpted as to what the issue could be. The microsoft site wasn't much help either, and have googled it but not found much at all. I would try uninstalling Windows Media Player, but its a built in component so can't uninstall (that im aware of).
Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks folks!
