"Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again."

Just formatted my Sony Vaio laptop and trying to connect wirelessly to my router, I then receive this error message as above.

I can view about 5 different wireless connections, when I go to click on mine it doesnt ask for any key but just shows the error message above. However when I go to connect to someone elses network it asks me straight away for the key.

My router is currently being used by myself (via ethernet), and my sisters laptop (wireless card)

Im also using WPA security as well

I had this problem a while ago, couldnt fix it, the only way I got around it was with a different network adapter, dont for the life of me know why though! the only thing I could suggest is see if there are any new drivers for your wireless card

Erm im tried finding out on the sony website to no avail. The wierd thing is the internet was working fine before I actually reformatted, but not sure what the configuration was like before as the laptop was given to me, so wanted a fresh install of windows and forgot to check b4hand

I can connect wirelessly when no security is enabled, so obviously when i have WPA enabled on my router, there must be some sort of configuring I need to do on my laptop. But i have no idea how?

I take it that when you said it worked before, this was on the same router and had wireless security enabled?

Is there not a wireless Icon (Bottom right) which you can either double click or right click to get into the networks detected? This would normally be where any config would be viewed and changed. Right clicking on your own network and going into properties.

its running SP2, there weren't many drivers i had to install tbh, but the wireless driver was one of them. I have loads of network connections that are available, including mine that I have set up. My signal strength is excellent but just when I go to "connect" it just pops up with that error message in my original post
