I have connected my TV up to my pc in order to watch videos and play games etc for the first time in a few years and have encountered a problem when trying to watch videos.

In the catalyst control centre I clone my desktop on the the tv (desktop res 1680 x 1050) which results in a picture on both screens. If I open a video at this res it plays perfectly on both screens.

I then set my resolution to 1080i and get a lovely picture on the tv and a dodgy picture on the monitor as it isn't its native resolution, but if I try to open a video file (any format) WMP (and all other players) crashes with an error in quartz.dll. I have reinstalled this dll from the net with no difference.

I then disabled the monitor in CCC and set the tv as the main display and again at 1650 it works but at 1080i it causes the crash. However if I turn the PC off and unplug the monitor then video is happy to play at 1080i on the tv.

I really don't want to have to crawl about on the floor everytime I want to play a video on the tv, so is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

The card is a Radeon X1900XT connected to the tv through component inputs. I wasn't quite sure where to put this so I am posting it in Windows (because it is a dll issue), graphics cards (because it relates to graphics cards) and also in home cinema.

Thanks for any help
