Errors in Windows Event Logs

The DHCP errors are probably because my Router does not support IPv6 and I need to Disable IPv6 on your computers network adapter.

I get some errors because of 'unexpected shutdown', just because I use the power shutdown option at night. What wrong? Does Microsoft not expect you to sleep at night?

The start up errors, I think are caused by Windows 8 not finding a Hibernate file. I think I can get rid of these by disabling fastboot in the Bios.

Really want to have a clean event log on my new build.

Any ideas and tips on getting rid of / fixing these annoying error messages would be much appreciated.

I don't think it is even possible to have a clear error log on windows, the way the operating system works seems to make small errors and other issues inevitiable. My event logs have always been packed with errors on every PC I have had. I asked before if I should be worried and people generally said that it is normal.

I have almost 25K in my event log. The machine is only a year old.

have never owned or used a mac before, but since seeing this post it has got me wondering, does it have something similar to event log ? if it does, is it always littered with errors also ?

I have a Mac with OSX 10.5.8 running on it, i'll look into it later on today and let you know if I find anything. That thing is a beast. 1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, Radeon 9200 32MB, 40GB HDD. Everything lags. Even the cursor

No. But they do at least expect the o/s to be shut down cleanly, rather than just cutting the power. There is a reason why it is on there as 'critical' and not just an error or warning.

How exactly are you shutting down at night? As the o/s doesn't seem to like it and does not appear to be shutting down cleanly.

My system is always clean on the event viewer, I get odd warnings and that about it. Unless I get a system crash/program crash they show up. Ignoring the Event viewer isn't a good idea really and you should Google the Errors and check what they mean if you not sure.
One error you could be seeing is hard drive warnings for example, ignoring this not good idea lol

Oh god. I have hundreds of warnings, hundreds of errors, and about 10 critical kernal power 41 entries... What does this mean exactly and should I be worried?

You can view events by going to the console which is to be found in the utilities menu. You can view events in there. There's a big button with 'show log list' on it. It is nowhere near as easy to decipher as the windows event viewer however. In my opinion of course.

it's all in the title, it's an event viewer, not at error viewer

it logs everything like a program closing down, i'd be more worried if there wasn't anything in it, as then your pc / o/s would be useless, you need to understand what is an error and what isn't, this can't be done with a few line's of text here, but years of study, anyone who reads it and fully understands it knows thats 99% of all info there means very little real errors that most would need to worry about, if your pc is working fine and your error log is massive, think how long the pc has been up and running, how many files and programs have been installed and updated, how much hardware has changed etc.

this is why a fresh install of windows every few months or so makes more sense and is good house keeping, it's the only real way of getting a system back to the day you either made it or bought it, install windows and all drivers and updates then make an image, job done, then it only takes 30 mins max's on most systems to re image a drive put on a few more updates and have your programs on another drive waiting to be re installed.

im lucky if my system lasts 4 months with out being wiped

No it doesn't make more sense to wipe windows every few months, if you have to do than then frankly you are doing something very wrong when using it. Yes I love a nice clean OS too, but wiping it that regularly makes me think you're a fat fingered user, like to poke about in settings you don't understand or have been brainwashed into thinking imaging a PC regularly makes you cool

I only ever reinstall the OS when it's needed, a vast majority of issues can be sorted by a quick search on the net. Imaging that regularly is complete overkill. If you need to test/develop software you should be using VMs or a test box after all.

Yeah the console, has logs from App crashes etc. I did a clean install the other day and already got a few in there, mostly from me force quitting Safari.

just had a look in mine, it is all program errors for me mainly anti virus and DNS.

The only one that worries me is this one

The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur.

kernal power 41 Can be System Crash, Unexpected Shutdown they show up has kernal power 41

Every 4 months :eek:

Last time I installed Windows was well over a year ago when built this Rig, and it still performs the same in speed has day one.

You doing things very wrong if you think the need to re-install every 4 months.
