The GTO² (if unlocked) will be quite a lot faster than the 7600GT, but the 7600GT is capable of Shader Model 3. Really, it's down to which features your prefer.

You don't seem to have access to the Member's Market, but if you do happen to be in the market for a GTO² I have a pre-unlocked (XT PE) and mint-condition one that I would be (un)happy to get rid of.

Yes an unlcoked GTO2 (X850XT) is faster than a 7600GT (but has no SM3).
My advice is get whichever you can find for the cheaper price.
Both cards are as likely as the other to last untill your next upgrade.

The 7600GT gives the x1800gto a run for the money, never mind the old tech x800gto. link

The 7600GT overclocks very nicely too, i'd recommend:

Leadtek GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-080-LT) £131.54 Inc VAT.

The 7600GT will be far better upgrade than a GTO². It offers similar perfromance when overclocked and SM3.0 support.

I'd take the 7600GT personally, its a cool running card that overclocks nicely, supports SM3.0 (this may not be a biggy, I always really wanted it when I had X800s and X850s but wasn't worth changing to a 6800U really).

Agree with egt

the 7600 GT is a nice overclocker and a well featured card for the price.

I'm sure other people might some good cards for cheap in the members market that are good. I got (or rather, am supposed to be getting) an X1800XL for a reasonably price.

Ps: OT for a sec, does anybody know OV3RCLOCK3R at all??, I've given him the cash but the card is a no show  .
