As title,

Got the game today and wanted to post my thoughts and the only thread is one authorising spoilers.

?

Can you name me a shop that sells games that doesn't sell consoles? All game shops = competitors.

I believed the general rule of thumb was whether someone was a competitor or not was taken in context to the focus of the discussion. I.e. I bought a banana from Tesco was ok even though they sell consoles. I'd have thought that a thread entitled "Mass Effect" and discussion on whether people had received their preorders would have exacted the same level of common sense / or do rules change depending on the whim of the mod?

Its a rule that does more harm than good in my opinion, but these are the rules, we can live within them, or not post.

There has been a lot of hinting lately, descriptive terms for places, i would have thought though, if its a game shop, and people were allowed to directly link to the product, rather than having to go and search it would cut down the risk of overclockers losing a sale.

example

Jimmy posts "i got unreal 3 for £12 pre order!, i cant say where"

jason then goes around 10 online shops looking for it, while there he happens to see that one place is doing a special on wireless keyboards that he was about to buy from overclockers, and overclockers lose a sale.

I would like to see this rule changed, but its not a major hassle, people just like to help others and share when and where they found a bargain.

Wouldn't bothering arguing about it. You won't get anywhere sadly. Been there and done that heaps of times, which is why this isn't my primary forum anymore.

That rule only ever applied to shops whose primary business wasn't games/consoles/computers (with one or two exceptions). Computer game shop talk has been banned ever since OcUK started selling consoles.

yea i just wish the dons had a little common sence and the rules around here are far far to stricked.

what ever you do never drink and post other wize you end up looseing your mm access like i did, wow so what i bumped god lol.... seriously though bumping a post shouldnt constitute a ban anyway i wont post anymore about it in this thread becuse im kinda thread robbing and there isnt much point in debaiting it either. when a mod bans you your banned for life.

Nothing you've said there is true, stop being so bitter :p

We do have common sense, I put it to you that the people lacking common sense are those that don't understand that if a store stocks products OcUK seel they are a COMPETITOR. It doesn't matter if it's being linked to because someone likes the logo or because someone wants to show a good deal on DVD's, if they stock LCD TV's or Consoles then it's breaking the rules.

This has been stated again and again and again yet people still aren't getting it, threads that have ridiculously large amounts of competitor information in them are extremely difficult to clean up - we have lives too and cannot spend every waking hour deleting posts from ignorant members who decide not to abide by the rules so offending threads are deleted. This is what happened to the Mass Effect thread, I will take a look at it and attempt to clean it up.
