eSata how to make it work?

The drive in question is the Seagate free agent. Have tried hardware scan to no avail.

Have looked over and over the bios and can't find anything to do with this.
Also tried just restarting pc. Still nothing
Am running xp and Vista same on both

Yes its all enabled.
Have just tried plugging the drive into one of my spare sata ports on the mobo (also tried the ports my other drives are on to see if I can see it in bios) and still it does not work. I guess the drives sata port is not working. All ok on USB though.
