what do I need to run a compatible device on it?

My mobo is an aging DFI LanParty NFII UltraB which utilises an internal SATA controller for hard drives - wondering if this in itself would be enough.

I'm considering buying this Seagate FreeAgent Pro http://techgage.com/article/seagate_freeagent_pro_750gb/ which has some pretty nice features although if I need a dedicated mobo to run in eSATA I might settle for the cheaper vanilla USB 2.0 version

Hi there, you can by sata brackets which fit into spare PCI slot on you case, then the cable plugs into a spare SATA plug on your motherboard.

You will need to double check the new hard drive is ESATA, as my Icy Box uses the standard SATA connector and my motherboard has the ESATA connector which I need to use SATA TO ESATA cable.

Hope the helps :)
