easy as the title, which should i use to connect mi lappy to my desktop? just to transfer files, tryed the home network but 1 Gb lasted over an hour and a quater

Shouldn't really matter as I would have thought the laptop's HDD would be slowest part in that equation, however, I believe eSATA has a better overall transfer rate.

You can't plug an eSATA port on one machine into an eSATA port on another machine for file transfer. eSATA is for connecting a hard drive to a machine, not for networking.

Your best bet would be Firewire (preferably 800).

I was thinking you were removing the HD from the laptop, I never tried connecting a esata to one machine to another.

how big are the files?

gigabit can run up to about 100mb/s

disable AV when copying for max speed.
