I use my external esata drive for backup, i get sustained transfer speeds of 80-120MBps, depending on file size.

eSATA is just external SATA. If I'm not mistaken, there would be no speed difference between connecting an internal HDD with SATA, and using the same HDD for eSATA. So, basically, you CAN'T get faster than eSATA right now.
