Hi,

I'm just wondering whether Eset's Smart Security package would be better over e.g. using a combination of NOD32 & Comodo Firewall.

What kind of resources does it take?

Any ideas if I'd be better off buying Eset Smart Security rather than having a combo of NOD and Comodo?

Craig.

Nice. I trust the overhead from scanning files etc. is the same as NOD32?

Also, is it possible to set the firewall to block EVERYTHING until allowed? Even Windows components?

Yes sir, set the firewall to interactive mode: Setup > Personal Firewall > Switch to interactive mode.

After that it blocks everything until you allow it.

Seem to remember reading ages ago that the ESet firewall software wasn't that good but I still use Smart Security as I couldn't be arsed. :)

I've been using ESET suite on three PC's for a while now. Seems very good, almost no processor time (quick check, 0% CPU and around 30Mb ram). Still needs some kind of malware/spyware program to make it 101% though (saying that I don't & have had only one problem on one PC so far).

Yup, firewall can be set to 'block all' (disconnect network) or 'allow all' (as options to the normal mode).

The program has occasional updates, getting better & better. These don't auto update, you have to download and install the latest now & then.

Regards

Thanks :)

I think NOD32 includes spyware/malware protection (mine says it does). I may be wrong though.

Think I'll give it a go later on/tomorrow.

Where do you get the updates from then?

I always felt as if the firewall and spyware were not picking anything up as basically once they were installed i never heard anything back from them even when doing scans when other spyware programs would pick things up nod32 wouldnt.
